Location is great, but sadly the service spoilt our experience, so many waiters... and yet took 20 minutes to take our order.

The location is let down by a bland and overpriced selection of food. The menu also mis-communicates its dishes and serves only to set false expectations for the consumer.

The Tower can no longer live on its name and needs to provide a culinary offering which backs up its claims. I would not subject my worst enemy to the food that was presented to me on Saturday lunch time.

I would not be surprised to find a microwave chef pulling side salads out of a plastic supermarket bag lurking behind the expensive menu.

As somebody who eats out once or twice a week, the current offering in Edinburgh puts the Tower to shame.

I actually felt sorry for what was a very efficient and enthusiastic front of house team. 10 out of 10 for service, 2 out of 10 for food.

Incredibly poor meal at the Tower!! We went for lunch and were expecting great things especially when we saw the high prices. What a disappointment! The portion sizes were so small that we ended up laughing hilariously when they were put in front of us! I had a bowl of soup to start that was tasteless. The mains were tiny, boring and unadventurous. I can do much better at home. I feel sorry for the ingredients that were wasted in the Tower restaurant. I hope this place is scrapped soon and replaced with something decent!

Our meal at the tower was supposed to be the highlight of our trip to Edinburgh in Sept 09. That could not be further from the truth. I had the set menu and all I can say is that I could have done better myself in half the time. Miserly proportions and boring food was the order of the day!! Hot food that wasnt hot and tasty food that wasnt tasty, even the coffee was warm! You would think that 'eton mess' was pretty safe....... Not here......NO MERINGUE! Loverly surroundings and staff, the only thing that spoilt it was the food!!!

I didnt complain on the night as it would have ruined my friends 50th birthday " treat " and because I would have had to complain about every course. So on my return I wrote to the manager and told him of my experience. He did write back apologizing, but for his defense he continued the letter detailing the preparation of each course and what it should have tasted like!!!!!!! God knows what that is supposed to prove???

If your thinking of going ........... save your money and try the pizza hut instead!!

My husband and I decided to have dinner at the Tower on Friday night for an early Valentine's Day celebration. The evening started out lovely but quickly went downhill. I ordered the steak, medium rare and it was most definitely medium-well to well done. Just to be sure, I even asked one of the servers. The manager came over and told me that's how they do medium-rare. He then, very impatiently, asked me how I wanted it since medium rare was obviously not what I wanted. I said, I guess rare if your medium-rare is not even pink. After making me wait for almost a half hour while my husband had to eat his meal alone, I received a steak that was black and blue - cold and raw in the middle and seared on the outside. The manager came over to check and I told him I couldn't eat that. He just shrugged and walked away. I let it go because my husband was done and I just wanted to leave. It didn't really matter at that point because we were completely ignored by the wait staff after that. I am writing this review, because it is not a cheap restaurant and I paid 32 pounds for a piece of meat I couldn't eat and a ruined dinner.
