Have been to Stac Polly a few times now and never been disappointed. The atmosphere is relaxed. The menu , though not exhaustive, is well put together. The choice superb. Th food is delicious. Had a great time and will be back soon.

An awful experience. This place is stuck in a timewarp. The service is terrible, slow and unattentive. The food not worth the excrutiating wait. The decor is old, faded and tired. The heating is not on and its freezing. Well I suppose why waste money on heating when you have no customers!

We went there for a business lunch, and there was only one other person in the restaurant. He was reading a book, so he must have known how slow the service was.

It took them ONE HOUR to produce the starters, no apology was given. This included a bland tasteless broccoli soup - which was only slightly warm - how long does it take to heat soup? The other choice was haggis in filo pastry. Why is is this always offered in bland restaurants of this nature?

When the delay was investigated by one of our party, they found the 'waitress' ( I use that term very loosely) sitting eating! She said there had been a mix up in the order, and it looked like she was eating the mix up. How can you mix up the order when there is only 3 choices per course on the menu and we only ordered two different choices per course??

The main course took a further 30mins to arrive. We were on the verge of walking out when they arrived.

The 'gravlax' salmon (trade descriptions need to investigate this) was on a bed of mashed potato that still had the skins in it! 1 hour and 30 mins and they cant even peel a potato properly!

The restaurant only had one other customer all the time we were there and he looked thoroughly bored and was reading a book while waiting on his food. He probably had time to finish the book. God knows what they would be like if the place was busy!

To add insult to injury they included a 10% service charge in the bill! They should have been offering us a discount for such a rotten service. We decided not to have dessert or coffee as we wanted to leave before it got dark. £15 for a 2 course lunch is an utter rip off for this standard of food and service.

By the time we returned to the office, the afternoon schedule of meetings and work was ruined. Result was we all had to stay late to catch up.

Its the 2nd worst restaurant I have been to in Edinburgh.

We found the food at Stac Polly sub-par, the service inadequate and the on the whole, over-rated. I wish I could erase this dining experience. The food tasted like it was reheated and I have to concur with another review that we were left at our table for long periods of time without any service. There are plenty of excellent restaurants in Edinburgh, Stac Polly is not one of them. I can recommend Martin Wishart at the Shore, a Michelin star restaurant which is excellent value for money, delicious food and impeccable service.

I had a superb time - despite being a bit put-off by one of your reviewers, I found the food delicious, the staff fun and friendly and I really enjoyed feeling a bit special. Haggis parcels a treat after all I'd heard - would definitely recommend.

I found Stac Polly over priced, the food was standard but nothing special. The Tuna steak made my partner feel ill. We were left sitting for ages (seemingly forgotten about) then given some sample of soup to compensate for wait..it was like dish water...need I go on

We went to Stac Polly, Dublin Street on Saturday 2 December 06. What a place !

Absolutely fabulous. The menu choice is superb and the staff very attentive. The decor is well suited to the class of restaurant, warm and intimate. Would highly recommend a visit. Best to book in advance. Will be going back shortly.
