Went for lunch at this restaurant March 2009. The waiting staff were very nice, polite and welcoming but I'm afraid I thought the food was not of a good standard at all. The sauces which were used in their pasta dishes tasted like something out of a jar and full of preservatives. The garlic bread was dried up and stale-like, certainly not fresh!
The prices are what you would expect for a lunch time menu, but I have been in other places which have better quality food and is far better value for your money.
The whole place really needs re-decorated especially the toilets! I think one toilet (per gender) for the size of that restaurant is not enough, and it could be quite dangerous walking through the passageway past the kitchen area. Overall the place looks quite grubby.

Had meal there with friends on 9th August on recommendation of another friend. We were at the Tattoo for the week-end. Found it very good, friendly, efficient. Would recommend to anyone. Everything just right, liked it so much, went again in the 11th. Great place, food and people.

Lost count of our visits. The Lasagne is the best we have tasted and always cooked to order. House wine is good too. Consistent efficient and friendly service.

easy to overlook, La Lanterna is also situated between two other Italian restaraunts, one more expensive and one slightly cheaper. We decided on La lanterna as it was inbetween in terms of price. The menu covered all the standard Italian fare, fish, pastas, steaks, chicken and milenese, with a selection of tasty starters and delicious italian ices as well. I started with the Antipasto and was greeted with a plate plied high with italian cured meats, olives, sundried tomatoes and salad, for main courses my girlfriend (a very fussy eater!) had pasta alla matriciana, while I opted for the Fillet allla pate (fillet steak in a pate sauce) the pasta was excellent, obviously al fresh ingredients, while my steak was out of this world! Seriously, this was the best steak I have ever eaten, and the sauce was unbelievable. then had some very creamy italian ice cream and coffees to finish, wonderful meal with fantastic staff and a very cosy atmoshere, don't let the very standard "rustic" look put you off this restaraunt
