My wife and I had lunch and found the meal was all the earlier reviews said. The restaurant was clean with friendly staff and a freshly cooked meal was presented.

An excellent half bottle of wine accompanied the meal and we could only manage one sweet between the two of us. It was tiramasu as it should be. We will dine again when next we visit Edinburgh.

Fully recommended.

It's quite a pleasant place with good food and very friendly, if slightly confused service.

I went on a Saturday evening with friends. My starter (rocket salad with parmesan) was not very impressive, but my friend's mushrooms were excellent. My risotto con pollo was wonderful (not as bland as British food tends to be overall, and everybody was happy with their main dishes.

Service was good, although a bit confused (we were asked if we wanted to order sweets after we'd already finished them), but everybody was very nice and helpful.

The prices (for starters in particular) were a bit steep for the value, but within acceptable limits for Edinburgh city centre. I could imagine going back

First visit to La Lanterna Edinburgh, and definitely won't be the last! Each course came quickly without leaving you feeling rushed. The waitresses were very attentive without being in your face. They provided an empty bowl for mussel shells, replacing it as it became full - very good service, other restaurants leave you balancing the shells on any available space left around your plate. The portions were ample and extremely tasty. The cheesecake was absolutely perfect, not too sweet. Before serving it, the owner even asked my friend of she minded that the cream in her coffee liqueur had settled slightly - that's serious attention to detail. She also stopped to have a chat towards the end of our meal, making us feel she was very interested in our dining experience - what a lovely lady. Would highly recommend giving this restaurant a try.

This restaurant is always on our list of "must visits" when we stay in Edinburgh. Our experiences have always been first class over the years and again this time we were not disappointed. Toni really is a marvellous host and you will always feel welcome here; nothing is to much trouble and the food and staff are excellent. We couldn't recommend this restaurant highly enough
