Hewat's Restaurant

We went to this restaurant on Monday with a friend. What a delightful gem. The dining room is tasteful and comfortable with some stunning art on the walls. We decided to go quite early so had the choice of the dine for a tenner menu (which looked great value), the pre-theatre menu which my husband chose from and again good value. I chose from the a la carte menu. The food was some of the best I have had in Edinburgh. I had scallops for starter and a perfectly cooked aberdeen angus fillet steak for main. Puddings were a high point with chocolate mousse and lemon tart to die for!!! Our friend is gluten free and they catered for him without any problem or fuss and obvious understanding of his requirements. I spotted a small private dining area which looked great for a family do. I will definitely return to try out the Wild Boar!

Beautiful food, nice surrounding and great welcoming staff.

Can't recommend highly enough.

Try the dessert platter to share between two...it is to die for!

Having been with work and enjoying the meal there, I decided to book their private dining room for a 50th Birthday party. Everything was excellent. The food is up with the best I have ever had. Service and general atmosphere was very good. I mentioned on booking that one of our party was gluten free and they assured me this was no problem. I was very impressed that a special menu had been printed for our guest which included most of the a la carte dishes we were offered and she was also provided with a gluten free roll at the beginning.

Would highly recommend.
