Massively over-priced and you feel like the staff are actually on top of you.
Not a nice enviroment

Delicious food,modest portions ,very expensive.
Lovely staff very attentive.
Lacking in ambience with heavy wooden tables and cafe style seats. All rather drab and unexciting.
Chilly atmosphere with open entrance and draught blowing in.
Edinburgh has many nicer venues on offer in this price bracket.

Agree with below, consistently delivers as well- sometimes a rarity in alot of Edinburgh restaurants. Greatest thing about it is you can deliver that fantastic line "set menu and a glass of tap water" and get away with it! Fair enough the waiters may sneer, but you can end up having a fantastic meal for comparitavely little- £27 for 3 courses at dinner is great value for this standard of cooking.

I'm amazed that no other reviews have been posted for this absolutely dazzling restaurant.
I treated my groomsmen to a meal here two days before my wedding and it reigns as one of the best meals any of us has ever had (spoiled the reception meal, I fear). We are passionate and experienced diners from different parts of the world (Toronto, Vancouver, Glasgow) and we were awed by the intricate attention to detail on each plate, the exceptional use of high quality Scottish regional ingredients, a brilliantly food-friendly wine list, and service that was very attentive without being overbearing.
Having each ordered an appetizer, we were so taken with each others' selection that we all requested the addition of a second starter before the mains arrived. Without missing a beat, our server stopped fire on the mains (they have a semi-open kitchen) to accommodate the request. Both the second starter and mains were flawless, despite this last minute interruption to the kitchen's timing. The eel was incredible.
The manager/sommelier (I'm sorry, mate, I can't recall your name) recognized our penchant for bold, rare and exceptional red wines and made pitch perfect suggestions to round out our meals.
Dessert was equally impressive (a house made honeycomb ice cream is one of the best things I've ever tasted). The aforementioned sommelier brought us a special treat: a "wine" of sorts made from the whey of a local cheese featured on the menu. Original and inspired.
I love Edinburgh and visit as much as I can. While visiting my wife's family is always a pleasure, I have another strong reason to look forward to my next trip: Atrium.
Locals be advised: Atrium is a not-to-be-missed experience. Support this Edinburgh treasure.
