Went to the brasserie for dinner on a warm,sunny evening.What a great view of Edinburgh from this 4th floor restaurant!
The menu is full of mouth watering choices.We had a delicious caesar salad to start;a silky chicken liver parfait;and a meze platter.All were delicious.Mains included a perfect and tender lamb steak with veggies and a fish and chips with mushy peas! The batter was feather light and well cooked in hot oil leaving a crisp bulging coating with no slime on the fish.My only gripe was the skin-on chips.This nasty habit of leaving the skin on chips has got to stop.It is just redolent of a lazy kitchen that can't be bothered to peel the potatoes and then trying to pass it off as "healthy".Well it ain't healthy.Anything that grows underground should be peeled as my farmer grandpa attests.The skin is in daily contact with terrible stuff like manure and chemicals and fertilizers and should be peeled off.So stop the laziness and peel!.
Food was great and view wonderful.A well chosen wine list has lots of choice at different price points.
