Cafe Royal Circle Bar

This is my favourite place to get seafood in Edinburgh.
The decor is classy and interesting- all dark wood, brass, high ceilings and leather. I go there for either a pint or two from the decent selection of ales, or for the fantastic mussels; which are always plump, fresh and flavourful; the way they should be in Scotland. (There really is no excusing some of the miserable excuses for mussles served in so many restaurants around town and at a higher price; this is Scotland for god's sake, we are surrounded by the sea!). Anyway- a half kilo with a simple butter and garlic sauce and bread costs around the £6 mark, which represents great value especially if shared. Its not fine dining, but it doesnt have to be when the raw ingredients are so good.
Go for the beer, stay for the food.
