Jackson's Restaurant

Having eaten here before I had no hesitation in booking it for my fortieth birthday.
We arrived at 8pm and despite there being only two tables occupied,we were seated at a very small table in front of the entrance in a draft. Thankfully we were moved.
The place was bitterly cold. When I complained the manager sarcastically told me it was very cold outside and we were in a very old building!
The bread was stale and inedible.
Having been on the website that day I knew exactly what I was going to eat and drink. Sadly none of what I had been looking forward to was available. When I questioned this I was told the website was four years out of date!
My starter of duck confit was tough and tastless.
My main rack of lamb was minute, over cooked and a third of which was just fat. My wife's salmon was so dry and tasteless she couldn't even eat it.
My creme brulee was ice cold and certainly not fresh. The shortbread that came with it was so stale a hungry mouse would have left it.
When I complained about the creme brulee the manager told me it was impossible to serve fresh creme brulee as it takes 45 minutes to prepare and the one served to me was most likely a couple of days old!
We then ordered tawny port from the desert menu. The manager informed us that they did not stock tawny port. I told the manager that it was on the menu and he argued that it wasn't! When I showed him the menu he simply growled "well we must be out of stock then".
I expressed my bitter disappointment about the whole evening to the manager where upon he replied " well what do you expect me to do about it then?"
Jackson's ruined what should have been a wonderful celebration.
We left disappointed, hungry, angry and over one hundred pounds out of pocket for what can only be described as the worst meal I have ever been served!
