Amicus Apple

We were in Edinburgh this weekend, we had heard such great reviews about Amicus Apple so we decided that we would go there for a meal (8 of us) we rung to book in advance. When the server gave us the menu's he stated that of the mains they didn't have 3 of the main courses, we thought that this would be OK, however the menu only had 6 main dishes!!

The starters were lovely, so we were really looking forward to the mains.

Such a shame.....I ordered a burger, it looked OK, I had to send it back though because the bun was too hard (seemed stale), unfortunatley I couldn't eat it, the burger was burn't & hard & looked like it had been cooked earlier on & then reheated.

4 of the girls ordered a chicken linguine, the chicked was processed chicken & lacked flavour, it was just like cream - they all sent theres away. Thankfully the wine was BOGOF so that kept us happy.

They Manager took the meals off the bill & gave us a further 20% discount which was good. But weather it was because we ate on a Sunday or the chefs were having a bad day, I wouldn't recommend this restraunt again.

The food wasn't BOGOF either.

Nice interior and friendly waiting staff although service was quite slow despite it being reasonably quiet. Menu was varied and reasonably priced. I had the cornfed chicken focaccia which was nice but the bread was very filling and slightly overpowered the dish. Good value for money and excellently positioned for centre of town shopping!
