I love the scale and sense of occasion this restaurant gives on arrival, it really feels like somewhere special. The food is fantastic, I read some negative reviews and feel like they have not understood what they are eating. The flavours and dishes are a nice change from the norm and the atmosphere is always upbeat and sociable. It's a great place to go with a group as the focus is on sharing and enjoying together. I would recommend it to anyone.

I had a nice lunch with my 8 yr old daughter last Saturday. The food was really great. This was actually my third time having Spanish food as i have had some bad experience before in another chain restaurant. This time we went in by mistake as we thought it was Italian! ( i know!!) But the experience has totally changed my view on spanish food! We shared 4 tapas dishes. They were fried baby squid, roasted prawns in olive oil (delicious!!), Paella Valenciana(seafood and chicken in the rice) and garlic bread and cheese ( i loved their bread). All came under £25 including 2 soft drinks. I wouldn't say it cheap for a lunch for two ( especially one adult and a kid). But I thoroughly enjoyed the food. I will definitely come back again!

Just brilliant! What credit crunch? This place is buzzing, the staff are so customer focused and the food is excellent. My wife and I had a really great experience it was the first time we had tapas, the waiter ask what we liked and told us what to have from the menu. We will be back!!

We had a great night in Cafe Andaluz, I booked the set menu £21.95 for 10 of us. It was the end of the month so when we arrived at 7.30 we sat down to bread and olives on our table and we did not have to worry about ordering although our waiter did explain to the rest of the table exactly how the set menu worked. We just had to order the wine which we ask to keep flowing and it was just a great fun night out. The music was good and the atmosphere friendly. I am looking forward to going back as judging as how busy the place was its obviously the place to be and be seen in Edinburgh.

Having booked a table for thirteen people on saturday at 7;30 we all arrived promptly and were keen to try authentic spanish food.the surroundings were really nice we all opted for the set menu, it all looked very promising.things started to unravel when we were still sat waiting for our first course at 8;15. we had eaten the bowls of dried out bread which had sat on the table awaiting our arrival accompanied by bowls of cheap VEGETABLE not olive oil to dip it in.
The food eventually arrived and consisted of four ashtray size plates between two of us with tiny amounts of vegetable based so called tapas. there was some meat in the form of half a deep fried chicken breast covered in cold yoghurt and five cubes of chorizo in a red flavourless gloopy goo. the paella had six rubbery overcooked prawns on a bed of mushy rice. the meatballs were a joke they were the size of peas and were drowned in more wallpaper paste. some of the dishes on our menu never even arrived .throughout the waiters kept bringing bowls of bread presumably to stop us fainting from stavation! and to try and fill us up on cheap bread. there was no dessert not even a scoop of cheap yellow soft scoop ice ceam.
When the bil arrived we nearly fell of our chairs it came to five hundred and ten pounds (four house wine and fifteen beer included). forty pounds a head an none of us had eaten anything substantial. A complete rip off unless you want to pay lots to sit in a nice looking cafe that serves tiny poortions of badly made food you could make better in the house. avoid like the plague.

I with my wife sat for Three Quarters on an hour waiting for our Main Course and drank more than we would thinking we were in for a real treat. On questioning the waiter we found out that we had already had the set £21 each meal! This must be the first time I had spent a total of £65 in a restaurant and had to call in at a Fish and Chip shop to feel satisfied. Talk about feeling "ripped off". What I can't understand is why when there was two of us we got odd portions ie Three prawns or just the One duck leg? I have many business friends that do business in Edinburgh and I have warned them that if they wish to entertain potential clients who "like" food DO NOT GO THERE
