Mark Greenaway at Hawke & Hunter
your comments review this restaurant
I was reluctant to visit Hawke & Hunter after reading the previous unhappy persons review.
I am glad to say i did and enjoyed it. Service was attentive and friendly. The new menu had just been launched and i enjoyed all 3 courses. After dinner drinks were enjoyed in the upstairs bar which was great fun until 3am.
At no point did i notice missing lights, ripped seating or cracked tables... quite the opposite really, the whole building has a very good finnish and is very elegant.
i will return

This shambles of an establishment has lost my custom. Having drank and eaten there reasonably regulaly since it opened I was disgusted to be turned away at the door on Friday having gone there straight from work to unwind and have a few beers, due apparently to some 'dress code' that has materialised it seems from nowhere. The food was acceptable although service can be slow, but the interior is somewhat run down now with light fittings missing from the toilets, stains and tears on the seating in the bar and cracks in mirrored tables. Frankly I am irritated to be turned away when I've always dressed in the same manner and I won't be back.
